Using Cliffhangers

Write a good story and folks will like reading it.

Write a good story with cliffhangers and folks will stay up late reading it just to see what happens next.

Of course, having a character in peril at the end of every chapter can become trite and boring, but piquing a reader's curiosity about what happens next can keep them coming back for more.
